i am *officially* a crazed fan of doctor who!
I live in canada, so there is not a lot of Doctor who stuff here. We basically get the DVD's and that's it, no action figures or cyberman voice-changer thingys etc. It makes me very sad. So yesterday, I walk into the book store, and I start looking through the magazine stands. And what do I find??? A DOCTOR WHO MAGAZINE! Not just one, but TWO!! I bought these two:

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh106/XDanielleX_2008/n500291798_603750_6912.jpg

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh106/XDanielleX_2008/sfx_doctor_who_special.jpg

(sorry the second one is blurry)
And so I have two questions for people that have also bought these magazines:
#1 - In the actual Doctor Who Magazine, it comes with a Giant double-sided Poster, One side featuring the Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble, the other featuring Rose Tyler. What did you guys do with yours? I'm wondering what to do with mine. It's kind of big so I have no room to put it anywhere, and I can't choose between the Donna/Doctor side or the Rose/Donna side. i'm wondering if I should get it clear framed...yes - i am crazy, but  love the poster, and (because I had no space, three small children ryunning around and two curious kittens) I slept on the floor, while the poster and magazines stayed on my bed (which is too high for the little ones to reach) yes that is right, i let a poster sleep in my bed. I should win some sort of fan-award for that.

#2 - In the SFX magazine it says the magazine was supposed to come with something (a book I think) but the people at the book store couldn't find it. I was wondering what the thing was that came with it? Did anyone else buy it?

Thanks to anyone who can help me!!

The SFX one came with the little novella Made of Steel. It should have been wrapped with the issue.

interesting..it wasn't wrapped with the magazine. the store called this morning to say that the magazine was on older issue (from may) so it should have been pulled from the shelf, but it wasn't, and they threw out the book.

That stinks. I do remember it from May. Cause that's when I got it. The book is cute, but it's nothing spectacular. It was a good quick read, that I enjoyed when I was on a plane.

I bought two copies so that I could frame the posters and hang them in my office of nerdiness.

I got an SFX a couple of months ago that had a Ten & Martha book in it. The most recent that they have here at my local Borders is an X-Files one with a double sided poster for the movie. Also very awesome.

I'm in Canada too, and I just have to search chapters for DW/TW merchandise whenever I'm there. I've found those two mags there, as well as several books (Mostly ones with Martha). I found that Sunrise Records usually has some Doctor Who stuff; one time I went and they had an entire wall of merch. It's where I got my TARDIS USB hub. You have to get lucky though, because generally when I go in now they only have one or two things (not including the DVDs, which they usually have a lot of). Most of my merch I got from Polaris 22 though.

I'm deciding where to put my poster from DWM right now. It's already a bit ripped just from me unfolding it, but I think I have space above my desk (I'm actually setting aside a day to put up shelves for my action figures, and to put up all of my ten billion posters)

I work at a border s here in the states so I can totally help with question 2. It came with a martha/doctor paper back of one of the novels. I don't recall which one, but it had a silver-ish cover.

As for question 1. I am a bad fan-girl. I just tacked it up, with the rose side showing, next to my voyage of the damned poster.

Another fellow Canadian here! (saw your post via [info]tennant_love)

While Doctor Who merchandise is difficult to find and a lot rarer than in the UK, it's not impossible to find. I've yet to find any issues of Doctor Who Magazine or any of the novels... perhaps I should scour my local Chapters... but I've found the DVDs at places such as Starstruck Entertainment (if you have any of those near you). They have an entire section dedicated to British imports and I've found all three series of New Who, a bunch of old serials, and Season One of Torchwood.

As far as action figures and knick knacks go, Sunrise Records is usually the best place to find things. I got a Series Two pack of action figures from there as well as my sonic screwdriver and psychic paper. Just a couple weeks ago the one nearby my place actually had a sale on all Doctor Who action figures... sadly, I was broke.

Other than that, the only place I can think of would be to search hobby shops, but you're relatively hit and miss with those, and things tend to be a lot more expensive in places like that.

I got both at Chapters. I didn't think they'd have them either, but you just have to look :)
I'm not sure if they would have them in Toronto (i've never been, so I don't know) i'm in British Columibia so..

Yeah it came with one of the 'classic' Doctor Who books, it was with John Pertwee (sp?) and Tom Baker and people. Normally though, when magazines etc are sent abroad they can't send some of the free gifts for legal reasons. We get the same problem with American magazines. Sorry!! xx

I have those mags too! I bought the one with the poster yesterday. It's exciting for me, too, since I live in the US and we don't have too much Doctor Who merch in these parts :]

As for the poster, I'm going to put up the side with the Doctor. I wish the it had a Doctor/Rose picture, but ohhh well.

The other magazine came with a paperback book called Made of Steel. It has Martha and the Doctor on the front.
